About Interswitch InterSwitch Limited is an electronic transaction switching and payment processing company with a business footprint that covers the provision of shared, integrated message broker solutions for financial transactions, e-commerce, telecoms value-added services and e-billing in the Nigerian environment. The company is an independent, private sector led, Limited Liability Company (LLC) focused on facilitating the exchange of value between service providers (financial, telecommunications and utilities), merchants, their customers, and other stakeholders on a timely and continuous basis nationwide. What is Naira MasterCard? Naira MasterCard is a debit card denominated in Naira issued in partnership with MasterCard Inc. and banks like GTBank and FirstBank here in Nigeria. Naira Mastercard cardholders can use their cards to make payments online to procure products and services without having to drive through traffic to get to the bank nor join lengthy bank queues. Banks like GTBank and FirstBank will let you have a Naira MasterCard ATM debit card when you open an account with them (Current or Savings account). Once this card is activated for Internet banking, you can use it for your online purchases and payments worldwide, anywhere you see the MasterCard logo on the Internet. You can use it to order for products online or pay for services. However, you have to activate it to start using it for online payments and purchases. To activate it, do the following (we will be using GTBank in this tutorial): [1]. Go to any of their branches and ask to see the Customer Service people or the person in charge of card services. Tell them you want to apply for Internet Banking or want to be profiled for Internet Banking and would want to apply for a “Token”. A Token is a small security hardware like a key holder that generates a set of numbers which will enable secure transfers via the Internet banking platform. It generates a random password which will then be keyed in after the password to enable transfer. The use of Token is strongly recommended for the individual user. All customers that want to activate their Internet banking accounts are usually advised to request for a token to further secure their accounts from unauthorized transfers. The set of numbers generated should be entered when you are doing any transaction on these banks’ websites. Like I had earlier said, it is also required for the activation of your ATM card for online payments. The bank will debit N2,100 - N3,000 or so for the Token once you log into their site to activate it. You will get the Token device that very day (or they will ask you to come back for it another day) together with a PIN which you need to change in the process of activating your Internet Banking account on their site. [2]. After getting your Token and Internet Banking details from the bank, go to their website e.g. www.gtbank.com to activate your ATM card for online payment. For you to know you are on a secure connection and not a cloned website ensure there is “https” is in your browser’s address bar when you login. Fraudsters and hackers can create phishing websites to deceive you into thinking you are on the real website, so always check to see if your spellings of their URL is correct and ensure that there is “https” in it whenever you are logged in, for example https://ibank.gtbank.com/ibank3/ . Now, click on "Login" under "Internet Banking" and then enter your Internet Banking account user details which should have been given to you in a sealed envelope at the bank or sent to your email address. Enter the login details and once inside your account, click on "Get Activation Code" button. [3]. On the next page, follow the instructions provided and fill the form on the page. Select your card type (MasterCard) and enter the expiry date (which you will find on your ATM card e.g. 02/15 but enter the date without the slash ( /) sign e.g. 0215) and then press the little button on your Token. It should display some digits, type in those digits and click on the "Submit" button. [4]. A code will be generated for you after clicking the Submit button. The generation of the code means your ATM card has been activated. Keep this online activation code away from anybody except yourself. [5]. Your Naira MasterCard (ATM card) is now ready for making online payments anywhere you see the MasterCard secured logo on the Internet. The code generated will be required every time you want to make payment online with the card. MAKING PAYMENTS WITH YOUR NAIRA MASTERCARD OR INTERSWITCH VERVE CARD When making payments on any website that accepts these forms of Payment (i.e. either MasterCard or InterSwitch Verve), you will be required to fill in or enter your card details after clicking the "Order" or "Buy" button on the website: • For ‘Card Type’ choose MasterCard or Verve. • For ‘Card Holder's Name’, you are required to enter your name as it is written on your ATM card e.g. gasten volts imefi • For your ‘Card Number’ use the long number on top of your ATM card, which is commonly 16 digit on most debit cards. • For ‘Expiry Date’ enter the date as it is on your card; for example 02/16, but remove the slash (/) sign. • For your ‘CVV Number’ enter the three-digit security code at the back of your card, for example 435. CVV OR CVV2means Card Verification Value. • Confirm or complete the process and wholla that’s all!

BUYING ON THE INTERNET AS A NIGERIAN WITH YOUR BANK ATM CARD

Virtually all banks in Nigeria issue ATM debit cards but at the moment the GTBank Naira MasterCard, UBA Africard,Zenith Bank Mastercard Websurfer, and Zenith Bank Visa Prepaid Buxz cards are some of the most reliable payment cards you can use on the Internet for your online transactions here in Nigeria to make payments worldwide. The Fidelity Bank debit card which the bank offers to its customers who have at least a Savings Account with them is also reported to be a good online payment option. GTBank will let you have a Naira MasterCard ATM debit card when you open an account with them (Current or Savings Account). You can start using the card for your international online transactions by going to any branch of the bank to activate the card for Internet banking, you will be able to use it for your online purchases and payments worldwide, anywhere you see the MasterCard logo on the Internet. Just go to any GTBank branch and ask to see the Customer Service people or the person in charge of card services. Tell them you want to apply for “Internet Banking” or want to be profiled for Internet Banking and would want to apply for a “Token”. A Token is a small security hardware like a key holder that generates a set of numbers which will enable secure transfers via the Internet banking platform. It generates a random password which will then be keyed in after the password to enable transfer. You can use the GTBank Naira MasterCard to order for products online or pay for services anywhere on the Internet wherever you see the MasterCard logo. For now, let me concentrate on the easiest of them to get – the UBA Visa Prepaid card, called UBA Africard, issued by United Bank of Africa (UBA). The UBA Africard is one card you would want to consider and virtually the easiest to obtain. The UBA Visa Prepaid card (Africard) is a debit card variant denominated in Naira and is pre-funded and re-loadable. It is internationally accepted in all Visa acceptance points (ATM, PoS & Web). Card holders do not need to have an account with UBA in order to obtain this card, and the card can be obtained from any branch of UBA. The card is of two types; the personalized and the non-personalized types. I will advise you to go for the non-personalized type because you can instantly obtain it just immediately after applying for it. All you need to apply for the UBA Africard is a valid form of identity, particularly a government-issued ID, which could be an international passport, driver's license or National Identity Card, or even the Voter’s Registration Card (in line with the new CBN directive). You need a minimum of N500 (five hundred naira) to obtain this UBA Africard prepaid card, although in some cases you can get it even without paying a dime. This card has a 10 digit number on it. This number serves as your account number. To fund the card, simple pay into the account number at the counter. NOTE: Although the aforementioned cards are widely accepted online, you cannot use them to effect payment on some sites on the Internet. Some sites may reject them while some do not have provisions for accepting them. For example, Clickbank products cannot be procured using most Nigerian prepaid card. Most Clickbank products require a PayPal login before you can buy products on the site, so your Nigerian prepaid card will not be useful to you on www.clickbank.com. However, so many other sites, particularly the China based B2B sites like Aliexpress.com and DHgate.com will accept the card. You can also use these cards to make online payments for your web hosting service with Hostgator.com; domain name service with Namecheap.com or GoDaddy.com; autoresponder service with TrafficWave.net, Getresponse.com, Aweber.com. To cap it all, you can use these cards on many websites that accept the usual Visa and MasterCard. You can use them on websites like Amazon.com, Namecheap.com, Getresponse.com, Aweber.com, Aliexpress.com (to order PCs, tablets and other electronic gadgets from China), and DHgate.com (to purchase electronics, PCs, tablets, computer accessories, cell phones and accessories, jewelleries, handbags, clothes and so on from China) and Web4africa.net (to buy domain name and webhosting).

google adsense quick start guide

If you have a website or a blog, you should definitely sign up for Google Adsense. It’s one of the few programs you can truly ‘set and forget’ – once it’s there you don’t really need to do much else with it.
But there are ways and means to maximize your income from Google Adsense, and as you get to know more about it you can start to generate a decent income from it that will keep rolling in month after month. It’s a true passive income, which is why so many people are using it.
Most people have heard of Google Adsense, but not everyone understands exactly how to use it to its best advantage. So we’ll start with how to use it in its most basic sense and then progress to the more advanced benefits you can get from the program.
Basically if you have a website or blog you can sign up for a free account at Google Adsense and start putting contextual ads on your website. What do I mean by contextual? It means quite simply that the ads which appear on your site will be relevant to your content. So let’s say for example that your website is about tropical fish. The Google ads will then be related to tropical fish in some way. And because of the information that you give to Google, they will also display adverts that are relevant to your area. So if you are based in the UK the ads that appear will be relevant to UK buyers; if your site or business is based in Australia the ads will appeal to Australian buyers.
All of this is carefully worked out for you in order to attract the maximum click through possible for your website and your ads. Every time someone clicks on an ad you will get a few cents into your Adsense account, so it makes sense that the more attractive and relevant your ads are to your visitors, the more money you will make.
Let’s have a look at the appearance of your ads now, since this can affect the amount of click throughs you get. You can choose the color and borders of your ads to fit right in with the color scheme on your site if you wish, but it’s worth experimenting with having no borders at all around your adverts since this makes them blend in with your content more seamlessly and may encourage more click throughs in a subtle but effective manner.
However well you integrate Google Adsense into your current blog or website though, there is obviously a limit to the amount of money you can make from one site. If you get thousands of people visiting your site every day then you can expect to get a good income from it but many people don’t get this number of visitors and that’s where you need a separate strategy to try and up your numbers.
In this case you can go to the advanced level of Adsense income and think about starting several sites, all based around a different yet popular subject. You should think of these essentially as being content sites, since they are often chock full of articles and useful content which is carefully keyworded to attract plenty of search engine traffic on that particular subject. The Adsense ads are then placed in the optimum positions to achieve the best click through (the Adsense pages will give you ideas on where to position them but it’s worth experimenting to see what works best for you), and the site goes live for people to find and read through.
You can also insert affiliate links for products into these sites in order to gain even more income if you wish, but they are often known as Adsense sites simply because they are set up to attract visitors and click throughs on a specific subject.
Some people end up with dozens of sites like this, and the beauty of them is that once they are built and you have bought your domain name and hosting plan you don’t really need to do too much with them except for promote them. Updating them fairly regularly is good if you want to get to a higher position in the search engine results though, which will gain you more visitors as a result.
You can also keep your site updated more regularly (and encourage repeat visitors) by inserting RSS feeds of news stories related to the subject of your website. Anything that will get people returning to read more – and possibly click on more ads as a result – is worth a try.
One final note here – choose the subjects of your Adsense sites wisely. It’s tempting to go for whatever is in the news at the moment, but once the stories die down so will your traffic. You want something that people will always want to know about – saving money, getting a better job, earning more, and various other more personal subjects such as skin care and successful dating for example. There are plenty of options to choose from; you just need to get your thinking cap on to find them.
In short the best place to start making money from Google Adsense is to integrate it into your existing website or blog. As you gain experience and discover the best ways to use it you can start thinking about adding extra sites into the mix. You might end up being an Adsense guru and raking in plenty of money for very little work indeed. That’s the best thing about it – the ‘set and forget’ benefit that keeps on working even when you’re not.

quick start guide on how to sell ebooks online

Electronic books (ebook) are big business online. No matter what you search for there will be someone out there selling an e-book on it.
But the best thing about them is that they provide one of the most potentially lucrative businesses you could ever hope to start online. So long as you do your homework and don’t try and cut corners you can start making inroads into this business within days of deciding to get started. There is plenty to learn but none of it is beyond you – and even if you don’t think you’re up to the job there are plenty of people you can call on to help you.
If you’re thinking of selling e-books to make money online, your best bet is to write your own.
But why do that when there are plenty of affiliates e-books around that you can promote and earn a cut from? The answer is simple. If you write and create your own e-book no one else will be selling anything quite like it. You’ve got a unique product that will draw attention since no one will have seen it before. As long as you do your research first, you could make a lot of money from one e-book alone. So first things first when and how do you decide on what to write in an e-book and how can you convert your documents into ebooks?
Think about what subjects are currently popular online. Making money will always be a great subject (look at this blog for example!) so anything that taps into this field which doesn’t cover the same ground as loads of other e-books could do well. Try and focus on a specific niche to get the best results; you could start by thinking about what you personally find interesting and see whether any of your hobbies might provide fertile ground to explore.
Once you’ve got some ideas see whether there are already any e-books doing well online on that subject. If there don’t seem to be any around you’ll need to dig a bit further to see if your subject is going to be popular enough to attract a lot of sales. A spot of keyword research and simply looking up related search terms on Google can help reveal the answer to this.Okay – so let’s assume you now have an idea for an e-book you think will be popular. Next up you have to plan the contents and think of a great title. Titles are very important since they will give the potential buyer an idea of what to expect from the e-book itself. It needs to be specific and intriguing – and full of promise. Don’t worry if one doesn’t occur to you straightaway; quite often you will only think of it once the book is almost written.
The biggest problem when it comes to writing the book itself is staying on topic. It’s very easy to veer off course if you’re not careful, which is why having a pre-written outline to follow will keep you on track. If you plan this out before you begin writing you’ll find the whole process much easier to manage. If you don’t feel confident enough to write it yourself you can hire a ghostwriter to do it for you; there are plenty of sites online where you can hire a freelancer for a fixed fee that you decide on. This gives you complete control over the project.Incidentally the word ‘e-book’ can be somewhat misleading for newbies to the business. An e-book can indeed be a hundred pages or more long, but it can also be no more than a dozen pages or so. The price for a shorter e-book will of course be lower, but it is still more than you might think given the length of the book itself.Of course you need to think about more than just the e-book if you want to sell plenty of copies of it. You need to get the word out, and you need to have a great mini website to show it off. These mini websites are really single page sites which promote your e-book in a long sales letter. You would do well to spend as much time writing the sales letter as you did the e-book itself, since it has a very important job to do.
First off you need a stunning headline that will grab the attention. You need to really sell this to everyone who lands on your website so don’t be afraid to shout about the benefits of your e-book! You’ll notice I said benefits there and not features; that’s because the benefits will tell your readers what your book will do for them. That’s a very important point to understand since it could make the difference between getting a reasonable amount of sales and being buried under an avalanche of them!
Think about your price carefully too. Don’t be greedy – but at the same time don’t go too low either. You want to give an impression of quality. Do some research and see what similar titles in your subject area are selling for.You can also sell more copies by offering bonuses along with the e-book itself. Could you write a number of special reports as well, each one a few pages long, which relate to the subject of your main book? Anything like this will encourage still more people to buy from you rather than going elsewhere for a similar title.
The ultimate goal for you should be to write a series of e-books which each have their own website to sell from. When you write each sales letter be sure to include plenty of keywords and phrases to attract a greater volume of search engine traffic to your site. Pick a good and relevant domain name too – it will help to draw in more people. The hardest step is in writing that first e-book. Once you’ve got going and you’ve had some experience you’ll start writing them faster, picking better titles and subjects, and selling more copies as a result. Before you know it you’ll have a great business on your hands.
If you’d like to comment on this piece, please leave your message using the form below. Then get writing – your first e-book is there, you just have to get it out.

Money Making Ideas With Facebook

If you haven’t heard of Facebook by now, you must be one of the few people on the planet who hasn’t. It’s one of the biggest social networking sites on the internet, and as such it offers a great way to get in touch with likeminded people who have similar interests to you. But while many social networking sites don’t particularly like blatant advertising on their pages, Facebook doesn’t fall into that group. They are happy for people to advertise products and services to their users, and have even setup their own ad serving platform specifically for the purpose.
Once you have signed up to Facebook your first step should be to think about how you want to present yourself. I say that because you don’t have to be yourself in order to make money from Facebook. Don’t forget that you want to attract the attention of a specific group of people here, so that you become known as someone who is something of an expert on one particular subject. So choose wisely!Go for a popular niche that you have an interest in yourself, and develop your persona in that area. If you already have something of a web presence in this area then you’ll find it will help you as more and more people become aware of who you are and what you know about.
If you have a budget to spend on advertising and you have some external websites you want to promote, you can try out the Social Ads to see what benefits you get from them. It is well worth reading through the relevant help section to see what is involved though, as it is quite in depth. The main benefit to being a member of Facebook is that you can build and use any number of applications to perform certain tasks on your profile page. Facebook doesn’t frown at users making money from their Facebook page, and indeed many people link in to other websites outside of Facebook itself. People are constantly building new applications and many of them are used by many different users to create pages that appeal to their own particular needs.
This is partly why you will succeed in making more money from Facebook if you brand yourself carefully before you get started on the site. Figure out what it is you want to do and what you want to achieve. If you already have a website up and running then you will be able to link into that, so keep the look and feel of your Facebook page in the same vein as your site.Your first port of call, if you have anything second hand to sell which is related to your niche, is the Marketplace. It’s free to place ads in the Marketplace and there is no limit on how many you can place, so if for example you come across a bargain lot of books on your subject on eBay or at a yard sale you can list them all individually on Facebook and sell them on for a profit.
But while you can link to other sites outside of Facebook, some people also sprinkle some affiliate links on their actual Facebook page itself. For example, some quick research revealed one person who links into a range of ClickBank products on their page and does well from doing so.So long as you start from a strong position with a particular focus and brand in mind, you can do well by experimenting with all the benefits that Facebook offers. Take time to build up a network of friends and make sure you become known for being an expert in your particular sphere of interes.

Making Money on Ebay

There is a lot of money to be made as a seller on eBay. Thousands and thousands of sales are made each day, resulting in a lot of income for a lot of sellers. And there is still room for you if you want to get involved – whether you want to earn some part time cash or set up a whole new full time business on the side.
But where do you get your stock from? How do you get started? And how can you build a business that gives you PowerSeller status? Relax – you’re about to find out.
It’s easy work to get started earning money on eBay. Once you’ve signed up for your free account the best way to get a feel for what selling is like is to auction off some of your personal items that you no longer want. If you are going to start buying stock to resell, you’ll do better by getting some basic selling experience first. While we are on the subject of stock, you’ll need to decide what kind of business you are going to set up. Of course you can sell anything you like, but if you want to make a name for yourself it helps to become known for selling a specific type of product. Now that doesn’t necessarily mean your product area needs to be a small one; on the contrary it could be quite large. You could sell toys for example – there’s plenty there to keep any seller going for months on end without selling the same thing twice. You do need to pick a popular product though, and it’s worth doing some research using eBay’s advanced search feature to find out what is selling and how much it’s selling for.
So let’s say you want to sell computer games, for example. There are hundreds of games you could buy to sell here, but if you don’t know which ones will sell you could lose a lot of money buying the wrong stock. By searching the ended listings you can see which titles consistently sell well, and which ones will produce the best profit for you.Okay – so you know how to figure out what to buy. Now you need to know where to get it from. It stands to reason that no seller is going to tell you where they get their stock; that would be like giving away the keys to their business. In order to find the best sources for stock you need to do a bit of legwork.
We should mention here that there are two main sources for stock – wholesalers and dropshippers. Both have their pros and cons; it just depends on which method you personally prefer.Dropshippers hold all the stock for you, so you only actually pay for an item once you’ve received payment from the customer. You may have to pay a fee to join the scheme in the first place though. If you choose to go with one or more wholesalers you will need to have the room to buy the stock, and the money to buy it in advance. This comes with more risk since you could buy stock that doesn’t sell, but with the tactic we’ve already covered for checking completed listings before you order anything, the risk here should be kept to a minimum. So – back to where to find these sources. If you have a particular product in mind that you want to sell, the simple act of looking at the packaging can often reveal the name of the supplier. You can then check out their website to see what else they do.
Another method is to search for what you want on Google. This sounds deceptively simple and in fact many people don’t think of doing this. It can be a bit hit or miss, but it’s possible to find some excellent wholesalers through this method. Over time you will go from having one wholesaler to a handful of sources to get your stock from, and you can build up your product range as you start to grow.Building your feedback is an important part of being a good seller and the higher you can get your score the better. It sets you apart as being a dedicated seller. And the faster your score climbs, the closer you get to attaining PowerSeller status.
The PowerSeller symbol is highly prized among serious eBay sellers, and there are five levels to strive for. The first is Bronze, and it’s a lot easier to reach than you might think. While you might set a goal for yourself to reach PowerSeller, you will find that if you build up your product range and gradually increase your sales, you will reach it in no time. And if you get off to a great start you might just do it in three months – the minimum time you can actually do it in.Many sellers have their own shop on eBay, but it’s not necessary when you first get started. In fact you are often better off waiting until you have a good range of stock before opening a shop, since it can look rather empty if you only have a handful of items.
The final thing to think about is the price of the items you are selling. It stands to reason that if you sell a hundred different products in the $5 to $10 price range, you won’t make as much cash as you would selling a hundred in the $50 to $100 price range. But you need to work out what you enjoy selling and what you can sell lots of to experience real success on eBay. Don’t go for expensive products just because they might bring a bigger profit. Go for your calling – that’s where you will experience the biggest success.Above all, remember that it can take time to build a successful business – but if you’re determined to achieve real success on eBay you should be enjoying the journey.

Can Anyone Make Money Online Working From Home?
Of course. Many thousands of people do. You might have friends or family members who make a living with a home-based Internet business already. The problem is that not everyone WILL make money online, because making money on the internet takes a long time to learn, and most people give up because it can be extremely frustrating.
With over 300,000 “Internet Home Business” related searches on the internet every month, it’s safe to say that there is a lot of demand for information on how to make money on the internet. Sadly, this also means that there are a lot of shady characters preying on this group of people.
I knew someone who fell for one of these scams once – they taught him how to make money online, and then all he did was sell seminars – on how to make money online. The fact that he had never actually made any money online was beside the point… I guess. Not surprisingly, I’m not a big supporter of his business.
When Can You Quit Your Day Job to Work Online From Home?
Perhaps the most important piece of advice for starting an internet home business is this: Don’t expect to replace your day job’s income for 365 days (or so!). Although I will add that service-based businesses tend to bring in revenue faster, I would still allow for a full year to replace your outside-the-home salary.
The Good News About the Home Based Business Industry
As long as you are willing to put in the hours (days… weeks…. months….. ) to learn the ropes, you can bootstrap your business with extremely little money, generally speaking. Remember that some businesses take more to start than others. I’ve probably directly invested less than $3000 getting this blog up and running, and now revenue is increasing at about a 125-140% pace every month after being in business for 16 months. So, where do you start from here? Here are some general rules of thumb.
Internet-Based Business: Startup Rules
1. Pre-packaged programs only work as much as you can customize it and make it unique and your own. Even then, techniques that work for one niche won’t work in all niches.
2. Be wary of any “system” that promises instant results (especially anything that sounds like a get-rich-quick scheme!)
3. Knowing the basics of html, SEO (search engine optimization), social media marketing , website marketing and traditional marketing and sales are a must.
4. Every business is made stronger by specializing in a tight niche. Know your audience and stick to it.
Unless you have a brilliant tech idea that makes venture capitalists drool (which means you don’t need this list), you need to determine where your strengths are and which business model you plan on following. I have run three home-based businesses in my life, all of which leveraged my current skill set as the foundation for building the business. Look over the following list and single out the ones in which you have at least some experience. You probably won’t have all of the skills necessary, so don’t let that stop you! All you have to do is work hard and be willing to learn.

popular current trend

As the Internet progressively moves towards real-time information, the need to know what’s popular right now is becoming increasingly important. Here are the best ways to track trends of all types, so you’ll always be in the know about what’s hot on the Internet.
1. How to track popular Internet video trends

Mag.ma is the definitive source when it comes to tracking what’s hot for Internet videos. It aggregates all the hot videos from sites like YouTube, Vimeo and Daily Motion, takes into account social media buzz, links, positive reviews, how fast views are growing, then and shows you a selection of videos which are up and coming.
Because it tracks chatter from around the web and links to the video as well, using Mag.ma, you’ll usually be able to watch viral videos very early on rather than waiting for it to hit the masses.
2. How to track hot Twitter trends

Trendistic is one of the most visual ways to track Twitter trends out there. What I really like about it is that it helps you understand popular trends, and the tweets that were happening at that particular point in time when the topic became hot. Many other services just show you what’s hot and the current tweets about that topic (you can also get that here), so there is little retrospective understanding about what actually happened when the topic was trending and became viral.
It also offers up some great tools like hourly/weekly/monthly charts, and the ability to embed these charts into your own website.
3. How to track popular search trends

Google Trends Hot List shows you the hottest searches on the web right now. Close to real time, this is probably the single greatest indicator as to what people are searching for now. Google trends of course also allows you to track buzz of any given keyword across time.
Trendy Bing uses Google Trends hot list, but the results are published in Bing instead of Google. The result is a slightly richer experience with videos and photos to complement the search results.
4. How to track popular image trends

Digg Images is my favorite location when I want to find out what images are taking the Internet by storm. While Digg showcases all the most popular content of every genre be it videos/news/tech, the image section is particularly unique as there are few sources online which really capture what images/photos are really popular now.
5. How to track popular news trends

Newsmap is a fantastic visualization tool when it comes to determining what news is hot right now. It aggregates Google News and makes the more popular (the more written about) stories larger and more prominent, so in one glance, you’ll be able to see what’s hot. You can also customize it by topic and location to give you an even more focused look.
6. How to track popular feed subscription trends

Website subscription can be considered the ultimate gauge of

7. How to track your email trends

No, there isn’t a service which allows you to track what people are saying on email :) There is however, one called ‘Mail Trends’ which allows you to track what you are saying on Gmail. It allows you to get more insight on key email stats for example:

strategies to boost your online business

Big Idea #1: you can’t achieve new goals or make desired changes without allocating time to do so. Check out page 63 of my NO B.S. TIME MANAGEMENT FOR ENTREPRENEURS BOOK* for ‘time-blocking’ strategy instructions. A big reason that resolutions never become reality is no room made for them in the daily schedule! If your days are already full, and you resolve to get in a 1/2 hour a day on the treadmill or on your laptop, writing that book, that 1/2 hour has to come from somewhere. Something’s gotta give! You have to find something or things currently consuming time you can cut 5 or 10 or 15 minutes from.
Big Idea #2: priorities should govern schedule, schedule shouldn’t govern priorities. On pages 69-74 and 103-111 of the same book, I talk about the mistake made by the vast majority of business owners and entrepreneurs – they operate like workers instead of bosses and leaders. They report to a workplace, then they let people and events ad interruptions come at them all day, take control of their day. You have to wrest control away from others’ priorities and govern by your priorities. President Bush cited Social Security reform and tax reform as top priorities of his second term, presumably accompanied by resolution of the mess in Iraq. Then along came the tsunami. Still, he organized his tax reform panel. It’s hard to judge from outside looking in, but my belief about W. is that he’s determined to govern by his priorities. Are you?
Big Idea #3: resolutions aren’t resolutions without resolve. Only you can decide what really matters to you. You shouldn’t bother with ‘lip service’ faux resolutions, made to appease or satisfy others. Honesty with self is a pre-requisite for success.
Big Idea #4: resolutions require resources. Almost anything you decide to do, any change you decide to make, any goal you set out to achieve requires new or different resources. That might be a piece of home exercise equipment or different food in the cupboard, a private work environment outside the office, information, people. You aren’t really serious about a resolution unless you invest in and gather the required resources.
Sometimes investment motivates follow-through, too.

Big Idea #5: daily progress. Take the objective and break it all the way down to a timeline and to-do list for each day, from now to fruition. In talking about how he built ‘The Sharper Image’ from a college kid’s coffee table start-up to nearly a billion dollar business, Richard Thalleimer references the Bill Murray movie, ‘What About Bob?, with the psychologist who advocates “Baby Steps.” Thallheimer says he still approaches every new project that way today. Good enough for a guy running a billion dollar company, good enough for you. Nothing gets done in occasional big leaps. I wrote four books last year, one hour a day, a handful of pages each day. Here’s the goal and discipline that is guaranteed certain to move you closer to any goal each and every day: refuse to end any day without doing some thing, no matter how small, that moves you toward the goal! “The One Thing Behavioral Rule” makes a huge difference.
Big Idea #6: who motivates the motivator? Paul Meyer, founder of Success Motivation Institute, posed this provocative question. As an entrepreneur, as the leader, you may be doing a lot of motivating of others, but who motivates you? For the most part, you need to create self-motivation with structure, like Big Idea#5. But you can also get into a coaching group, tele-coaching program, hire a one-on-one coach, or just pair up with a like-minded buddy, so there’s somebody to hold you accountable, to report progress to, to get an atta-boy! from. Any professional sports coach will tell you: measurement automatically improves performance, and measurement monitored by someone else further improves performance.
Big Idea #7: Build up to change. I’ve neglected the treadmill for six months, now I’m going back to it. Began January 1st. I’m writing this on the 8th and I’m still 100%. The goal is 30 minutes a day, but if I try doing that out of the starting gate, I’m a goner. So I’ve started with a measly 5 minutes a day first half of January, 10 minutes a day for next 15 days, 15 minutes a day for all of February – and I’ll miss 10 days while traveling, then 20 minutes a day in March, up to 30 minutes by April. This addresses the tricky balancing act, a desirable and motivating goal but also an achievable goal. So, say you resolve to get up an hour earlier every morning to work on some project. You could start with 15 minutes for two weeks, then 20 minutes for two weeks, then 30 for a month, then 45 for two weeks.
Big Idea #8: It’s not too late to re-group! You may already have let your resolutions slip away. Doesn’t matter. Today, tonight, tomorrow morning at the latest, block out a couple hours, bolt the door, unplug phone, and re-group. Review the resolutions. Pick one or two or three that mean the most, and apply the above seven ideas.
Big Idea #9: Make better use of your time. Resolve weakens under pressure, under stress, when you feel your time is out of your control. That’s the set of circumstances that allows procrastination to gain a foothold. If you want to be more resolute about keeping your resolutions, you must become unwaveringly resolute about controlling your time. A lot of what’s in my NO B.S. TIME MANAGEMENT FOR ENTREPRENEURS BOOK has to do with training or re-training all the people in your world to respect your time, to co-operate and facilitate your peak productivity.

Product Ideas to Sell Online

Product Ideas to Sell Online
By George N Root III, eHow Contributor
I want to do this! What's This?

Television and Internet advertising can sometimes create the image that an online retail business is a quick and easy way to start your own company. The truth is that unless you can find products that people want to buy, your online retail business will not last very long. Use your imagination to find the products that you believe will help you launch your online retail business.

Services
1. One of the easier start-up products for an online retailer is services, because the costs are relatively low. If you have an expertise in a popular topic, then attempt to start a newsletter and offer monthly subscriptions to your newsletter.

Another popular service is training. Set up a website that offers courses in various popular subjects such as Internet usage, language tutoring or computer repair. It will be necessary to recruit experts in these fields, but the way to compensate these experts is a percentage of the pay from each student. This will also get the experts involved in recruiting students. Follow the format established by other online training companies and modify their format to fit your ideas.

Products
2. One way to get started selling products as an online retailer is to become a supplier to a specific industry or activity. For example, you could base your business on the idea of selling art students the supplies they need for their studies. When you focus on a specific industry, it allows you to determine where the needs are in that industry and see if you can become a supplier of those needs. It is easier to find the less saturated business segments when you break an industry down into its parts and then examine the supply and demand model for each of those parts.

The market for personalized gifts is a large and growing market, and if you can find some unique products to personalize then you could find a buying audience. This means avoiding the personalized T-shirt and coffee mug businesses because there are many of those already out there. One idea for a product to personalize is to put someone's name as the character in a popular novel. This would require getting the reproduction rights to the author's work, but this is the sort of personalization you could offer with your online retail business.
Things to Avoid
3. Research to determine the products that are saturated with online retailers. Many people offer DVDs, CDs, and books online. The chances that you will find success by offering products that are being offered by too many retailers is slim.

Some people start an online retail business to try and turn their hobby or passion into a career. When it comes to business, it is always a good idea to follow the sales projection figures as opposed to following your heart. While it would be easier to establish an online retail business with products that you have a passion for, it only makes sense to do it if you have done your research and determined that there is a market for your hobby. Determine what will sell, and use that to find success as an online retailer.

free articles and public domain content

I was surfing online trying to do some research on a new blog post, I came across a caption that caught my attention. On the screen before me was the caption “public Domain Content” being curious I clicked and was able to find out what it meant; public domain content are contents you find online that are not copy righted. What this means is you can take the content or written work of another person repackage it to whatever form without taking permission from the owner of the work or the owner has simply given you express permission to use their work without recourse or attrition to them. I sort of clicked back to what I was doing before which was trying to research on my new blog post; along the line I was struck with an idea! Here I was trying to do a research for my new blog post when I was already presented with a verifiable link. I clicked back and studied it to develop my idea further.
I learnt that public domain content or creative commons CC0 is a new creative commons license to help content creators distribute their work on the internet copy right-free. They can publish presentations, WebPages, videos, songs, pictures or any other form of content in the public domain via CC0. CC0 mean creative commons zero or “no rights reserved” license to your work, what this means is that “you as the creator of a work of art, article or whatever you create, you are trying to say I wrote this work or article but since I am circulating it under the creative commons zero please feel free to copy this article or use it for any other purpose without asking for permission or attrition.”
As the law stand, almost all countries have laws on copy right law prohibitions, I can rightly tell you that they have one thing in common and that is “copy right law prohibits in full or in part the use or reuse without explicit permission for creative works from the copy right owner.”
All copy right works will enter the public domain 70 years after the death of the author or 120years after the publication date if the death of the author is unknown.
Now back to the issue of the idea I said came to me while I was trying to do a research on my new blog post. The idea that came to me was if there was a lot of content out there lying unused why not write about it and bring it to the attention of my fellow bloggers and most especially newbie’s who may have been encouraged one way or the other for starting a blog through this blog and is finding it hard to come up anything to write about on their blog because for you to have traffic to your blog, you must have quality contents on your blog and must post to your blog at reasonable interval. And you must avoid copying copy righted documents online just to post to your blog it is against the rules of blogger and Google AdSense. I was going through my blogger dashboard and popped in to check my blog buzz, I came across an update that blogger is seriously working on deleting accounts that copy and paste copy righted items to their blogs.
The aim of this post is to put you on alerts on how to look for contents that are not copy righted, that is if you must use somebody’s else’s article on your blog, then it must be from “Public Domain Content”, you can download and re-modify it to your taste, even convert to PDF and sell it but most domain content have limitations as to what you can do with it but they are all free to use most of the time, simply do a “due diligence” before you use any of it.
Public domain content can be a useful resource center for online materials and ideas when you are looking for something to work on before posting to your blog so that you can avoid copying copy righted work and plagiarism. For you to use copy righted work you must first need to take permission by contacting them through their website or blogs online, but make sure that if you are given permission store the permission somewhere you can easily reach for it later.
Now a lot of you would have been asking yourselves; how do I search for public domain contents? You can do a search on public domain content on Google by simply typing the words “public domain contents” and click your way to whatever it is you are looking for.
It occurred to me to do another search for software’s that can duplicate articles, and you can imagine the result that came out. There are a lot of software’s that can duplicate your articles into 10 or more different articles with just a click from you and you can post on your blog. But if you must use this kind of software just make sure you write a unique article yourself and duplicate it to different articles. You can even register for Revenue sharing sites and use this software to earn from your Google AdSense account. I am currently working on this issue to expose or simplify it for you to take advantage of. Just make sure that you leave a comment on my blog on anything for us to improve and serve you better. You can download this kind of software’s for free. Simply do a search on Google with the keywords article duplicating software. Software Alliance roils some with aggressive stance: fines have reached into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.(fines for unauthorized software duplication): ... An article from: San Diego Business Journal
In conclusion however, the aim of this blog is to promote original ideas; where you can sit down and come up with your own idea on any niche but also at the same time point to you useful ideas that are relevant and emerging so that you don’t lack behind in this rapidly changing information technology world of ours.

Why Blogs Fail

Millions of blogs are being added to blogosphere every month and many of them fail and eventually die within the first few months of their launch. Why? Basically, there could be thousands of reasons for this. And in this article I’ll try to cover few of them.
Here are 24 deadly signs that your blog may be dying:
1. When Money becomes your top priority and you found yourself spending most of your time in doing research about latest affiliate programs rather than thinking about creating high quality content.
2. When you update your blog very rarely.
3. When you lose your motivation and start ignoring your blog or start taking it as granted.
4. When you create high quality content, hit the publish button and then go to sleep without making any efforts to promote it.
5. When you start writing long posts in small fonts and don’t even have time to break your text into short paragraphs.
6. When it becomes very difficult for search engine crawlers to crawl your content (may be due to weird themes or some complex blogging platform).
7. When you don’t do any kind of SEO or link building for your blog.
8. When you don’t have any knowledge of the niche you are going to blog about (unless you are newbie who want to share his personal learning experience with the community)
9. When your readers have to wait for more than 30 seconds to get your blog loaded.
10. When you’ve filled every white space of your blog with advertisements.
11. When you don’t have time to reply to the comments/ questions of your readers.
12. When the contact form of your blog is not working and your readers don’t have any other option to contact you.
13. When you are using the default WordPress setting for your blog like default about page, default URL structure, etc.
14. When you start believing that blogging is only about taking and earning and not about sharing.
15. When you start giving preference to the quantity over quality of content.
16. When you think that networking with other bloggers of your niche is not at all important.
17. When you start fooling your readers by recommending them to crappy affiliate products.
18. When you start selling links to poker and casino websites from your Blogroll.
19. When you start blogging about everything minus the information useful for your readers.
20. When your readers have to fill complex captchas or to register on your website to write comments.
21. When you claim that you earn $9,999 from your blog every month but still use a free WordPress theme.
22. When you start scraping content for your blog from the other blogs of your niche.
23. When you start expecting overnight results and dream of becoming a millionaire in first two months of blogging.
24. When you start spending your hard earned cash in buying $9.99 products entitled “How to become a successful blogger”.
So, these are 24 reasons that I can think of as the tell-tale signs of when a blog starts dying. If more than a couple of these signs apply to you, it means that its time for a major overhaul in your blogging strategy or your way of thinking.

YouTube traffic

YouTube is a popular is a popular online website which allows users of the internet like you and me to share videos or watch an unlimited number of them. YouTube popularity has grown tremendously and so has its profits. Google saw great potential from that site and bought it for over a billion dollars awhile back. Now as a regular internet surfer you have a piece that pie indirectly. If you offer YouTube videos on your blog, or even or even if you don’t have a blog site, you can still make a good amount from YouTube.

This method being shared with you on this article is about “uploading videos with your affiliate or website link in order to promote your site or product or service”. The videos should be related to your niche. Instead of making your videos you’ll simply go on to YouTube and download videos that someone else made and then apply your link at the end of the video. The videos are copy righted so you will have to obtain permission by sending them an email which they will probably not refuse but if they do simply go on to another and make sure you save any positive response in a folder where you can easily reach in the case of any legal tussles later.
Setting up this system is pretty easy, first you will need to sign up with YouTube to get your own account, then you will need to familiarize yourself with how to upload videos, title videos and market your videos with relevant keywords, categories selection and content. The procedure is as listed below-
(1) Pick a niche: you’ll need to find out what kind of product you want to promote, you can go to www.googlepopularsearch.blogspot.com and find out the current trends and also Google trends. For instance if you choose a niche like “online entrepreneurship” you can go to places like www.ideasonlinebusiness.blospot.com and also www.affiliatelink.webs.com for products to promote.

(2) Find related Videos on YouTube: Simply logon to YouTube and search for related videos with keyword “online entrepreneurship”. Search for videos that were posted recently but have high view count. This will give a higher amount of exposure since the video is already extremely popular. Things to note when searching for videos to use.
A) make sure your video is not boring.
B) make sure videos is relatively short.
C) make sure that the video has good picture quality and clear sound.
(3) Download each video to your Computer: There are many website that you can use to download streaming videos directly to from YouTube. You can vixy.net, once open vixy’s all you have to do is filling the web address to the video that you would like to save to your computer. Then you’ll simply wait for it to convert t .AVI format.
(4) Edit and add your link: the application for use is windows media maker which by default is stored on your computer just do a search for it on your computer and you will find it there.
(5) Upload your video: Log on to your YouTube account and upload and always use keywords and good description when uploading your video. In summary on the tips and guide are-
 Find great videos related to your niche on YouTube.
 Download the video using vixy.net.
 Add the web link to your website at the beginning and at the end with a description of your video using a simple video editor.
 Re-up load upload the video to other different video websites at once using a mass submission website, you can do a search on Google.

Guess Bloggers

The 3 Essential “Don’ts” of Guest Blogging – Make it Work for You
Guest blogging is becoming a mainstream tactic to promote your resource and reach out to the targeted audience. The more people talk about guest blogging, the more misinterpretations of the concept occur.

This is why it is so important to keep reminding people what guest blogging is really about and how to do that to get the maximum benefit.
Let me share my own list of important things you must not do when guest blogging.
1. Don’t Treat Guest Blogging as Link Building
If you view guest posting as link building, the quality of your posts suffers. Trying to stuff your guest post with links to your own properties you are unable to focus on the post itself and other (much more important) benefits of guest posting:
• Networking: think about valuable connections that you build. People who are involved in the Internet marketing long enough realize that traffic and rankings are unstable. Networking with people is what really matters. Your friends and partners will be the foundation of your future online success and guest blogging is one of the most effective ways to build those connections and strengthen them.
• Reaching out to (and influencing) the influencers. A-lister bloggers are those who have authority and voice. It is not easy to get into contact with them. What they really value is your unique perspective and sincere opinion – and a good thoroughly-thought-over guest post is the best way to reach out to them.
• Recognition and authority. Guest posting positions you as expert, builds your brand awareness and authority.
2. Don’t Focus on Yourself
While building your personal brand is an essential benefit of guest posting, don’t overdo. By focusing on yourself and your by-line you risk:
• Being rejected – remember bloggers agree to publish your work and give you recognition and all they want is just your unique and quality content. They don’t need you telling everyone how good you really are.
• Screwing relationships with bloggers – the moment the blogger realizes you are using him to self-advertise, he stops appreciating you as contact. No one likes being used.
• Sounding pathetic – even if the blogger feels uneasy to reject and publishes your post, your readers will notice and laugh at your attempt to advertise yourself.
3. Don’t Focus on A-List Bloggers
Your wish to make the most of your efforts and only guest post for high-authority and high-traffic blogs is easy to understand. However consider the following benefits of the active guest blogging strategy (which means sharing your work on various blogs of various topics and power):
• You have time and platform to learn: Guest blogging (like anything else under the sun) requires some skills and experience. Lower-authority blogs are easier to contact and are more eager to accept the post – this means you are able to guest post frequently enough to get the experience adapting to new audiences and styles.
• You build more contacts. Let’s face it, A-list bloggers are not easy to stick with. That’s bloggers “of your level” who are most likely to become your closest friends and people you can rely on. (Besides that, don’t forget, chances are, some of those blogs will eventually grow into “A-list” resources as well).
• You broaden your outlook. Think of plenty of various blogs, topics, styles, etc you come by while guest blogging. That’s an awesome post of inspiration
